Our Story

NHS Heritage, Future Vision

ePAQ® was born in the NHS, created by clinicians to transform the way patients are assessed and heard. Founded at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals in 2007, our mission has always been to ease pressure on busy services whilst improving the quality and consistency of care for every patient.

As an NHS majority-owned company, our priorities are shaped by healthcare need, rather than commercial gain. Our roadmap is guided by what matters to patients, clinicians, and health systems - supporting efficient, digitally enabled, patient-centred care.

Today, ePAQ is used widely across the UK and is increasingly recognised as a model for how structured digital assessment can strengthen clinical decision-making, improve pathway efficiency and elevate patient voice across healthcare settings.

Our History

ePAQ® was founded in 2007 at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals as an NHS spin-out, driven by the shared vision of clinicians and scientists who wanted to improve how patients communicate their symptoms.
From early validated instruments in pelvic health to a growing portfolio of digital assessments, ePAQ has developed through academic collaboration, healthcare partnerships and peer-reviewed research. With more than 50 published studies - including randomised controlled trials - ePAQ remains one of the most rigorously evaluated digital assessment platforms in clinical practice.

Our Mission

To transform patient assessment through secure, digital-first questionnaires that empower patients, equip clinicians, and support health systems in delivering efficient, personalised care.

We work with healthcare providers to integrate structured digital assessment into real-world pathways — combining clinical validation, operational insight and responsible innovation to improve outcomes at scale.

Our Vision

To give every patient a voice and every clinician insight to deliver better care.
We envision a future where structured digital assessment is embedded across healthcare systems, enabling earlier identification of need, more equitable access to care and more consistent, defensible clinical decision-making.

Our Values

Patient First – empowering patients to share their story in their own words, at their own pace.
Evidence Always – Clinically validated, peer-reviewed and grounded in data that strengthens care.
Partnership Driven – born in the NHS, collaborating with providers globally to deliver measurable impact.
